See the newspaper’s front page with the Akar maps:
Oinousses and Agathonisi are two of the Greek islands that are marked with blue color on the map that was presented yesterday by the Turkish Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar and today is displayed on the front page of the Milliyet newspaper.
More specifically, there are actually… two maps that present two possible scenarios, depending on the (presumptive) extension of Greek territorial waters to 6 and 12 nautical miles, respectively, and propagate Turkey’s demands for demilitarization of several Greek islands, while disputing the sovereignty over some of them.
In the same vein are the statements of Akar that Greece keeps acting provocatively, stating that there have been 90 military visits of high-ranking officials to the Aegean Greek islands, which “we can touch by reaching out”.
“There have been 90 high-level military visits. But aren’t there are so many other islands? No! They only go to islands that are at a distance of 3 to 5 km and they pay visits and hold ceremonies! That is, there is a constant challenge and provocation,” said the Turkish Minister of Defense.
