Close associates of Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan reveal Ankara’s neo-Ottoman pious aspirations, as seen in the videos below.

The videos were published by the independent research and monitoring network “Nordic Monitor”, by Turkish self-exiled journalist Abdullah Bozkurt.

Speaking to a group of military base officials, Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu

said he was confident that: “Turkey will rule the world and make history” and that “God is with Erdoğan and his government.” Soylu even spoke of “unexpected developments” without giving more details.

Using the same rhetoric, Mehmet Özhaseki, number two in Erdoğan’s AKP party and a candidate for the Istanbul Municipality, was twice defeated in mayoral elections by Ekrem İmamoğlu.

Mehmet Özhaseki vowed to promote religious discourse and Islam from the Balkans to Spain, in the aftermath of conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque.
